Class Impressions
A poem by Bev Shilka
With a slideshow prepared by Josh W.

The place to be in 2001 is Worsley Central School,
'Cause this year's senior class is really pretty cool.
This year's class is a dream come true – academics their forte
With school spirit riding high and the will to stay and play.
Each student is unique and rare with personal interest true –
So in this little plotted tale I'll introduce each to you.

Now Jennifer Bala is first on the list
A faithful student kind
And as you get to know her
Special qualities you will find.
She's strong in class, with a ready wit
And a desire to do her best;
But when the weekend rolls around
Rodeo is her test.
Her interests lie with horse's grace
But not at the cost of school.
A career in nursing calls her hence;
She'll be nobody's fool.

Christine Braim is next in line
With a sense of humor rare,
Her laughing, joyful, lively ways
Give her a sense of flair.
Yet Christine can always be counted on
To do what must be done,
No matter how hard the task ahead
She'll somehow make it fun.
She's off to Medicine Hat next year
Massage Therapy, the course for her
Success is almost guaranteed
Her mirth will be her lure.

Jody Dous is also part of this class
Sportsmanship her claim to fame,
She dearly loves to participate
And basketball is her game.
For all of Worsley's activities,
You'll find her at the core;
A willing, happy participant
Tireless – wanting more.
Next year will find Jody here
Working at the local store,
Helping out mom and dad - its true
Welcoming with a roar.

Andrew Hale, what can one say
About this young man's lot?
A more active school participant
Seldom can be sought.
Student Council always counts on him
To lead with friendly ways
He plans the school activities
And basketball, he plays.
Andrew's off to Fairview next year.
It sure will be our loss,
But agriculture calls him there
His fate will be his boss.

Valerie Hickock came to us
From Menno Simons School
She's quiet, calm and faithful
And never, ever cruel.
Music seems to provide for her
A sense of personal glee;
Performing oft for a worldly crowd
As you, as well, will see.
Valerie still is quite unsure
Just what her future holds
Staying home next year is the plan
Within the family fold.

Judith Klassen joined this class
When she was in grade ten,
She fit right in and brought with her
A quiet, temperance then.
Judith finished school in Semester One
Her presence sorely missed.
She's living out in Cleardale way
Part of the working list.
Judith's plans do not include
More schooling in her fate;
But whatever the future holds
She's sure to do just great.

Cara Kozack is another active girl,
Student Council counts on her,
Often working for the common good
With modesty, for sure.
Cara's academic strength
Is oft put to the test,
As classmate often go to her
Seldom giving her a rest.
Next year will see Cara far from here,
U of A is where she'll be
Studying Physics and related points
Earning her degree.

Kyle Lasovich is next on the list
A popular, happy lad.
He's not one to search for fame
But is willing to take a stand.
Kyle is always kind for sure
The brunt of many a jest
The girls they love to tease him
It brings him to his best.
Kyle's plans for the next year or two
Are not yet fully made.
But he's going to join the work force
Looking to be paid.

Jaycee McKay is a soft-spoken girl,
With a work ethic that is pure.
Whether it be academic courses
Or Student Council's lure.
Jaycee's artistic flair oft shines through
In assignments as well as crafts
No matter what she takes on
She does it with full laughs.
Grande Prairie will see her next year;
A pre – vet course is her goal,
Jaycee will be an asset to that school
As student is her role.

Sandy Parliament is a fun-loving girl,
Never quite sure just what she'll do
But with her you can be certain
Nothing will be blue.
Sandy's Student Council President
And is active in our school;
No matter what she takes on
You know it will be cool.
Off to Red Deer next year she'll go.
Cosmetology is her trade;
But her love of Northern Alberta
I'm certain will not fade.

Shandy Ponath finished Semester One
So this term, less of her we've seen,
Living and working close to home,
With ambition full and keen.
Shandy's love of life and exquisite flair
Makes her popularity true
And ensures her a blatant success
At whatever she will do.
Next year's plans are still up in the air
As Worsley holds her here
But whatever she decides her fate
She'll do with little fear.

Daniel Ray is also a quiet young man
But sports he does with ease,
Basketball has been his starring role
On the court, he's sure to please.
Daniel's tranquil shyness oft peeks through
But his peers, they pester him
And usually they are rewarded
With his blushing, they do win.
Daniel's plans and future goals
Take him to Fairview camp
To study Power Engineering
And climb that labour ramp.

Lance Wasylciw is also an ambitious lad
Working hard at home and school
As well as at the arena's den.
Work has been his rule.
Lance's quiet sense of humour
Will be sure to see him through
It's often not apparent
But its there, we've seen it – true.
Lance is off to Edmonton next year
NAIT has accepted him
Studying Mechanical Technology
He is sure to win.

Amber Wright's known
for academic strength
As well as other roles
Student Council is her thing
While she pursues her goals.
But weekend rodeos beckon her
And call her far from home.
But you can always count on her
No matter where she'll roam.
Grande Prairie seems to call her hence
Next year will find her there
Working towards a Science Degree
Studying with due care.

And with that, dear audience, I conclude this story told in rhyme
I hope that you now recognize their uniqueness in their climb -
Towards their education as individuals and as a class
And so please join with me in wishing them Good luck and Best Wishes fast.
The world out there awaits them, and no matter where they go
Our thoughts will carry with them as they enter their adult role.

Pictures from the slideshow can be seen in the individual student  albums
