Avoiding the Camera

Often students will go to extreme lengths to avoid having their picture taken. We see it as our obligation to record these attempts for posterity, and to demonstrate the futility of attempting to outrun the camera lens.

Here Sheena attempts a 180° manoeuver, but despite the quickness of her feet, the lens was faster! Her injuries when colliding with the locker were minimal.

Jacy uses the common technique called 'If I cover my face, they won't recognize me'. This method is seldom successful.

Val makes a futile attempt to fight back by photographing the photographer. We don't intimidate that easily!

Pretend you don't know this is really Christy. It will make her feel much better!.

The lunchkit is just a convenient disguise ... Ty doesn't really eat this way!

Jessica didn't want us to capture her in bedroom slippers.

The old 'Run for the Washroom' trick. Or maybe they really REALLY had to go ...

This may be a variation on the 'If I can't see him, then he can't see me' routine. Or perhaps Jacy is sad that Colter has a bag of seedless grapes stuck to his forehead.

Katlyne and Holly seem to be avoiding each other as well as the camera ...

Synchronized backward-walking. We've never seen this one before. Needs music!

Benny pretending he left the lights on in his truck. We almost bought it ... except his mother drove him in.

'Oh, look at that interesting garbage pail over there!' Brook & Danielle practice the elegant 'feigned interest' technique..

Pretending to get undressed? Jordan makes a pitiful attempt to avoid the camera.

Vicky hides behind a way-too-tiny lunch bag. Didn't stop us!

Pretending to be interested in math on the blackboard AFTER math class is over ... definitely an avoiding tactic. Not very successful.

Three for the price of one! Notice the creative use of food by Vicky on the left. Meanwhile, on the right, Brook uses a lunch bag ... and Jacy has developed a new two-hand approach to ensure greater coverage (or Victoria just poked her in the eye with her soup spoon ...)

Brook takes the business of avoiding the camera very seriously. Here she is seen diving under a table.

Brittany needs help walking in the hallways with her face covered.

Here's a new one ... Danielle swings her hair to mask her true identity. But we weren't fooled!

No-one really knows what Jacy looks like ... she always has her hand over her face. We suspect she'll have trouble getting her driver's licence ...

We couldn't believe our eyes ... we actually captured a rare triple-avoidance ... three different manoevers in one shot! Laurie turns her head, Katlyne uses a hand, and Larissa pulls a sweater over her head. This may be a prize-winning photo!

This is a new one. Very elegant!

Danielle uses a prop. This takes planning.

Once again, Jacy demonstrates her mastery of the technique of avoiding the camera. (She missed)
