![]() Swimming and Riding on June 10 (from the reports written by students in grade 3 and 4) One day the grade 3 / 4 class went swimming [and riding]. The swimming teacher wanted to see our strengths. Kenda taught us the back float, back crawl, pencil float, and front crawl. After we swam we went [with Mr. Borchert] to the Wagars' house for a ride in a horse-drawn wagon. We all went in two wagons. One was red and it was small, and there was a black one which was bigger. The horses' names were Spirit & Spook (pulling the red wagon), and Nip & Tuck (pulling the black wagon). Nip and Tuck had mohawks! Bud Foster and Irvine Allen drove the wagons. We saw a huge garden full of rhubarb and we got to eat some. The horses waited patiently for us. The horses took us on trails and some were steep. When we got hungry we stopped to eat. Bud and Linde Foster brought their lunches in a lard can and a Rogers Syrup can! We all went to the St. John Trail and Ikey's Hill where Ikey Legg used to live. We found a bone and punk. If you break off a piece of punk and make it smolder it will keep mosquitos away! We played at the Wagars' and had freezies after the trail ride. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
