Guilty!
The big, bad, wolf is really big and bad after all.

Alexander T. Wolf (aka The Big Bad Wolf) was found guilty of attempted murder and the murder of two little pigs.

The verdict, which was handed down by the honourable judge Gen Ruecker on Friday, October 13, 2006, saw to it that the Big Bad Wolf would never again go near another pig. The sentence also included 8 hours per day of cleaning the forest. The Wolf was heard exclaiming, “I am innocent; I was framed”. Nice try, Mr. Wolf.

According to the “True Story of the Three Little Pigs”, which is told from the Wolf’s point of view, Al was trying to bake a cake for his grandmother when he realized he was out of sugar. In order to complete the cake, he needed to borrow a cup of sugar from his neighbours. It is also important to note that Al was also suffering from a terrible cold, which caused him to sneeze quite violently. One thing led to another and two pigs were dead. Police and reporters turned up as Mr. Wolf lost his temper at the residence of the third little pig.

The Wolf’s lawyer, Bobbi, was stunned by the results. She insisted that they would appeal the sentence. She wanted to make it clear that the reporter, Shelton, had admitted to making up the story of the big bad wolf – to sell more papers.

The third pig’s lawyer, Jay, was quite please by the results. He told reporters that if Bobbi appeals, he would be ready with even more witnesses.

Mrs. Basnett’s grade 4/5/6 language arts class held their first ever mock trial as a part of a 'fractured fairytales' unit. All students participated in the trial by choosing sides and working on the case. Students took their roles quite seriously and had a great time exploring this genre.
