   Three students in the Nursing degree program at GPRC were selected to serve their practicum placements in Ghana, Africa. Erica Rude, Erin Slemp and our own Laurie Hale were all 4th year students in the Bachelor of Science Nursing program, offered at GPRC through the U of A.

   “Ever since I first heard about the international nursing opportunity, Africa has been on my mind,” says Laurie. “I have always been very interested in international nursing, and wanted to have an opportunity to gain a better understanding of this type of nursing. I am not sure where nursing will take me in the future,” says Laurie, “but whether I choose international nursing or rural nursing in Alberta, I hope to continue learning and developing.”

   After returning from Africa, Laurie came in to our school to make a presentation to our Sr. High Social Studies classes about her experiences.
