On March 1st at Worsley Central School, the students of Worsley, Cleardale and Hines Creek and staff were treated to a Trades Fair. The Fair was a collaborative effort between PRSD, ClearHills County, GPRC and Moffat Construction. The students started off with a group presentation from each instructor, and then were given a chance to interact with the instructors in a smaller group setting. While in their groups, the students got to handle some of the tools of the trade and ask questions to better their understanding of each program and give them more insight into trades and apprenticeship. Some of the trades present were Animal Health Technology, Beekeeping, Welding, Pipe Fitter, General Mechanic, Heavy Duty Tech, Carpentry, Harley Davidson Tech and more. Everyone came away with a better understanding of the secondary programs that are available to them locally and hopefully a new interest to pursue throughout their studies.
With equipment supplied by Moffat Construction, students were able to experience the look and feel of Heavy Duty Equipment first hand. Thank you to Moffatt Construction for helping with our Fair.
We look forward to the continued partnership between our schools and GPRC in bringing more options into the schools for the children to experience and in helping them decide on their career focus. Dallas Bjornson
