The 2000 Grad Class

These graduands of Worsley School
They are most truly blessed,
But tonight of all their schooling nights
They are most verily stressed.
They've bought their dress - the suit looks good,
Friends and family here,
But now that they are on display,
I see a twinge of fear.
Now, all these guests who're here for them
Expect they've set a goal,
And often ask what the future is ...
What's going to be their role.
They've thought long and hard about the world
They are about to start,
But please remember, honoured guests,
They are just teens at heart.
Some are unsure just what they'll do
Since adults have always told
Them what to think - what's good for them,
And now we want them bold.
Rachel says that she's planned ahead;
She wants to work next year.
She plans on staying right at home
Before starting her career.
Rachel's quiet, joyous, a friend to all;
Her classmates all quite yield,
Her interests lie with small children ...
Early Childhood is her field.
Martha comes to us from Cleardale way,
A shy and modest maid.
January saw her school complete,
But her plan was not waylaid.
She's working now at Menno School
As a kindergarten aide,
And plans to keep on working, sure
Her resolve it will not fade.
Now Blake has been put to the test
Juggling the ski hill, work and school,
But still maintains an ambitious air;
He'll be nobody's fool.
He plans to pursue the engineering trade,
post-secondary school a goal.
His interests lie in science facts
While pursuing his future role.
Now Carmen too is a hard-working gal
With a sense of self control;
Her social strength and earnest will
Make success her every goal.
Carmen too is out of school,
The MD a place to work,
But soon off to GP she'll go
Giving Business Admin a look.
Mindy has been a class act here,
Student Council is her thing.
You can count on her involvement
In just about everything.
She plans to go to GP too;
Teaching school a future aim
With her friendly, happy outward gaze
Her popularity will remain
Alana is a choice act too;
Fairview College has a place
That is waiting right for her
With her new life to face.
Ag Tech is the course for her,
A bonus for that field,
'Cause she is one talented girl
With the influence she can wield.
Now Peter's strength lies in his work;
You can always count on him.
If there is work that needs be done,
He'll do it with a grin.
He plans to stay right here at home
Finding work to pave the way.
At least for now, the work place is
The place where he will stay.
Nathan is just one of a kind,
A jokester every time.
In every situation
He always has a line.
Now Nathan too plans to work awhile,
Saving for his future gain,
When he goes off to school once more
To study Fish and Game.
Malcolm ended his school early,
Finishing first term;
Since then he has been staying home
But willing still to learn.
An application he's put in
To join in our Armed Forces;
He plans to join an army crew,
Or so say our trusted sources.
Aaron seems a quiet lad
Who is so set in his ways,
And a power engineering life
Will fill his future days.
He likes to fish, and hunt, and camp;
Outdoor pursuits his ease,
But Aaron seems to care for school
And sports his way to please.
Troy is rather reserved and shy,
But a friendly happy soul;
He's supportive, cordial, a loyal friend,
Fulfilling his fated role.
Troy spends his days at school, its true
But the future has in store
The working world, a daily job,
Completely his life and more.
Amanda is a powerful force
Fine arts are her thing.
She plays the piano beautifully
And lets the music sing.
She's off to GP next year
To earn an Arts Degree
Where she'll pursue her love of life
With interests she'll agree.
Jordan is the jock in class,
Basketball his love in life
But farming holds a strong allure
And causes lots of strife.
Falrview College is the place for him,
Ag Tech the course he's in,
So he can chase his dreams around
And still be sure to win.
Melissa too is off to school
Grande Prairie the place to be
Business Admin calls her there
For office work, you see.
Melissa's strong independent style
Will serve her well, it's true,
For her neighbourly, obliging ways
Will help to get her through.
Now Ryan is a thoughtful fellow
Reflective in his ways;
One would never quite believe
The sport that fills his days.
Motor sports are his claim to fame
Moto Cross his game;
In winter time skidoos the best
It's hard to keep him tame.
Justin's love lies not indoors
The outdoors life his wish
With farming and the hunting bag
Leaves little time to fish.
Justin too is a hard-working lad,
Farming is his aim,
So Worsley land will hold him here
His daily life the same
Now Jesse is a formidable force
With school spirit enough for all;
You can count on her compliance
No matter what the call.
Jesse's off to Augustana,
A school in Camrose town,
Where she will study pathology
To help kids with their sound.
And that concludes the class this year;
My honest wish so true
Is that each and every one of them
Finds a life that sees them through.
Somehow we always say the least
To those we care for best,
And hope our thoughts are understood
Although they're not expressed.
That's why it means so very much
When days like this are here
To say how very much you mean
Each day throughout the year.
