     The young lad now took a closer interest in what the old man had been carving. On closer inspection, he realized that what he had mistaken for an old piece of wood was, in fact, a tooth. A very large tooth. Why, the mouth that had once held that tooth, the young lad realized with a start, must have been the size of this house! He was beginning to think that maybe seeking his fortune could be put off for a year or two.

     "Be not afraid, lad", went on the old man, as if reading the boy's thoughts. "Yes, this was a very large dragon. But he's dead. And I killed him... just as you will kill your own dragon. Very soon."
