Have you ever been in a classroom where the assignment was to brainstorm some ideas in a group ... and you weren't sure what you were supposed to do? There are actually rules for good brainstorming!

Once you're in your group and you have a problem to solve:

  • Choose a Recorder
Pick someone to write down all the suggestions that are made.

  • Be Positive!
Come up with ideas that contribute something to the problem. Stick to the topic.

  • Don't Criticize Anyone's Ideas
Brainstorming means to come up with as many ideas as you can, without deciding whether they're good or not. Be enthusiastic, even if you think someone's suggestion is dumb.

  • Keep Your Ideas Short
Worry about the details later ... just get them on paper for now.

  • Get Ideas From Everyone in the Group
Encourage everyone to contribute something. The more suggestions you get the better!

After you've brainstormed a list of ideas, carefully discuss each
one to determine whether it's a good solution to the problem.
