The hover fly isn't bothered much by other insects, since it mimics a wasp's colour patterns as well as the sound of its wings beating, in order to look and sound like the wasp! Adult hover flies tend to get confused with both bees and wasps, but they lack a stinger or biting mouthparts and are considered harmless. This type of adaptation is a very common one in nature.
