To check this equation, you can't use the decimal, as it is infinite in length. Rounding it will mean that the check won't work. You'll need to check the fractional answer. Here's that work:


As in all checks, we didn't use algebraic solving, in case there was an error that we might repeat. We just substituted the answer and worked out both sides.
It goes without saying that you need to be good at working with fractions.
