![]() 'Loose Change' is a free program by Greg Ollwit that practices the use of Canadian money. It allows students to make sums using different combinations of coins, calculate change from purchases, and identify how many of each coin make up a total. Students can choose the type of questions they want, and it will move them on to a new level after they've mastered that type. The program keeps track of their scores and the ones they got wrong. When finished, the user gets to save or print a certificate that tells them how much money they've 'managed' by completing the levels they attempted successfully. Each level provides instructions, although the program operation is pretty obvious. Students in older grades will master it without assistance from a teacher. This program is ideally suited to students who are learning about money, and is even good practice for older students who need drill at the basic operations required to make totals or change. I tested it with Windows 11 and it works flawlessly. I highly recommend it! You can download it here; it's a 1.1 M (zipped) file that's self-installing after you unzip it. |
