RAINDROPS ON YOUR GLASSES

This problem puzzled us for a long time. If you wear glasses, you may have noticed that when you run from your front door to a vehicle, as it's raining lightly, your glasses get wet ... but the drops are mostly on the INSIDE of the lenses, not the outer surface.

This phenomenon only occurs when it's raining lightly ... not in a full downpour.
Why should your glasses get more wet on the inside than on the outer surface??

We only realized the answer to this problem when we thought to observe what we were doing as we ran through the light rain. Unconsciously, you always put your head down as you run, letting most of the drops fall onto the inner surface of the glasses. In heavy rain, both sides of the lenses get too wet to see the effect.
