Many years ago, at a point in time when the old school website was getting over ten thousand visitors a day, I made a page of my favourite poems, and asked visitors to contribute their own favourites. The response was overwhelming; who knew poetry could be so popular!

There was no way I could post them all, so I chose the ones that were sent in the most, as long as they could fit on one page. ("The Cremation of Sam McGee" by Robert Service was sent in by quite a few people, but I didn't use it because it was too long. I really wanted to, because in grade 8, while I was struggling to memorize one of Robert Frost's shorter poems, a girl in the class showed up two days after the assignment was given with the entire "Cremation of Sam McGee" poem memorized. And she recited it beautifully. You can read it here).

These are the ones I remember as being selected. I no longer have the names of the contributors (other than mine). Each poem also comes with a PDF version to make printing simple.
