Example 1:
5x2 - 3x + 4
This is a quadratic trinomial because the degree is 2 and there are three terms.

Example 2:
4x3
This is a cubic monomial because the degree is 3 and there is one term.

Example 3:
2x - 5
This is a linear binomial because the degree is 1 and there are two terms.
