Science labs often come equipped with elaborate instruments for measuring various aspects of the weather. But a lot can be learned by building your own instruments. We've prepared some pages to show you how to do this; none of the instruments are difficult to build, and none require expensive equipment. Everything can be done in the classroom, if you choose.

Students might also check out older copies of 'Weatherwise' magazine from the USA, or 'Weather'  from the UK, which are major sources for simply-constructed meteorological instruments. These pages were requested by a student in Minot, ND. Thanks to Ken Devine, a retired Canadian meteorologist, for suggestions, and helping us with references.
